Physical Definition

Layers: KRC is designed for its layers to geometrically increase in thickness. This is an aspect of its model stability. Since KRC model stability relies on the convergence of bottom layer temperature, the temperature at the bottom layer of the model must eventually converge to a single value or change very little over more than one day. This is a method of satisfying the heat diffusivity of Mars. Since thermal waves can only penetrate so far into the surface of Mars, there is a point when thermal energy no longer penetrates deeper into the surface. It is at this point when the model is able to presume that the variability of surface temperatures at a specific layer has been constrained. And the results from the model can be trusted, i.e. the model is stable.
