Atmosphere:

In General:

The shell of gas and solid particles surrounding the surface of a planetary body.

In KRC:

The single-layer (i.e. same temperature everywhere at any given time), grey (i.e. wavelength independent to incoming radiation) boundary between the surface and source of solar radiation
